Would you like more practice working with couples and families?
A one-day experiential seminar with Couple and Family Therapist and Lecturer Jacqueline McDiarmid will give you the opportunity to put systemic theory into action, and practice the skills needed to work confidently with couples and families.
Through active role play and team work, you will practice managing the sometimes challenging dynamics between therapist and a couple or family.
The day will be underpinned by Systemic theory and Imago and Gottman ideas, although there is assumed knowledge and the emphasis will be on practical application.
During the course of the day you will have the opportunity work in small groups learning the following:
- Setting up a session.
- Getting into the "active" mode of a couple and family therapist.
- Formulating circular questions.
- Conducting a relationship scan.
- Obtaining a behavioural sequence.
- Putting together a summary at the end.
- Learning some Imago techniques.
- Learning how to apply Gottman ideas.
Please note: there is an expectation that you will be an active participant throughout the day.
Numbers for this seminar are strictly limited due to the experiential nature of the training. This course has reached full capacity.
